Description:

The WorldSkills Australia competitions are some of the most logistically complex events held, filling Australia’s largest venues. Testing all these skills requires the water, energy and materials (and creates waste streams) representative of the entire Australian skills economy. Faced with these challenges, an innovative program has been developed for WorldSkills Australia National Competitions – the Green Team!

The Green Team Program was established as a partnership between WorldSkills Australia and Dusseldorp Skills Forumin the lead up to the 2008 WSA National Competition and has been in action every competition since then. The most recent Green Team consisted of 33 event and environmental management students, under the guidance of 2 environmental consultants and 2 TAFE environmental specialists.

The Green Team 2012 found a very high level of sustainability performance at the competition, reflecting passionate engagement by the WorldSkills Australia categories.
