Description:

Demand for sustainable housing and energy and water efficiency is on the rise. The Trade Secrets website provides two series of videos:

Trade Secrets – Why, a series of interviews from architects, developers, builders, painters, plumbers and electricians as to why they have chosen to adapt their skills and work practices to sustainable outcomes and how they’re doing it

Trade Secrets – Skills for the Future, a series of short online videos that aims to equip regular tradespeople with the basic skills and knowledge they need to adapt to the increasing demand for green practices. The videos provide clear, practical and visual teaching resources to cover all the ‘must-knows’ for builders, plumbers and electricians who have had little exposure to formal training in sustainable practices.

The content is 100% free and can be watched on either computer or smart phone. What’s more, trainers can download the videos for use in existing training or Continuing Professional Development courses as topic overviews or discussion starters.

The Why video series were originally researched and developed by the Dusseldorp Skills Forum.  The Skills for the Future videos series was researched and developed by the Institute for Sustainable Futures, in partnership with the Dusseldorp Skills Forum and through consultation with leading industry experts.  Funding for the Skills for the Future series was provided by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, the NSW Office of Fair Trading and the Kirby Foundation.
